Writing as the Lens of the World

Okay, so, here it is. I’m a writer, and no matter how hard you try, you can’t remove the writer from the blogger, even if the blog doesn’t even have to do with writing. But, I feel like writing fits in here just as much as anything else does. Why? Here’s why.

It’s an art, and like any good art, it forces us to look at the world around us in a different light, the light of intent and possibility. I find myself looking at people differently, focusing more on what could be happening than what is happening. I find myself noticing little details I hadn’t picked up on, and of course, gathering inspiration from everywhere.

There is a certain level of understanding you get from writing, a base layer understanding of the world around us and those who inhabit it. Writing gave me the original idea for this blog, actually, because I was discovering wonder and hope in the deep reaches of the darkest nights. There’s always something worth looking for, even in the worst people. There is always something glinting, even in the filthiest of situations. Writing has helped me to discover those, and I wish to share them with you.

I will try to keep the posts about pure writing to a minimum, but like I said above, there will be some. Mostly, I wish to show you the world from the viewpoint of a writer, where everything is beautiful and amazing and absolutely worth being on this earth. I feel like it would make the world a much better place if we could all see from that viewpoint, so I’ll do my best to help.
